My dear family and friends, Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts as I spend this semester in Spain. I'm going to do my best to write every couple of days so I can share this amazing experience with you. Any comments you leave are appreciated, because I'm not much of a blogger, so I know that I actually have a reason to do this. :)
Here are some basic facts about my semester:
-I live in Seville, Spain, in the district of Triana
-I live with an amazing Señora, Pepita, who spoils my roommate Nicole and I rotten. She cooks us amazing meals, talks with us, and won't even let us make our own beds. Also in our house are her husband Enrique and daughter Maria (age24).
-I attend Trinity college, and am taking all advanced courses taught by professors who only speak Spanish (Spanish history, art history, advanced grammar, and short stories).
-I walk everywhere, equating about 8 or 9 miles a day
-I come back December 19th
Things I love:
-The food! Wow.
-Coffee
-Walking to school every day (it's a good workout, and I love Seville)
-My classmates and Señora and people here in general
-Beautiful architecture and history in my own backyard!
- Dressing up!!! Every day.
-Being able to speak and understand Spanish well, while always improving
-Siestas!!!!!
-Later meal times (dinner at about 9:00)
-City life (it's so fun, but I wouldn't want to live in a city long term...I do miss green)
THINGS I DON'T LIKE:
-Never having clean/fresh air
- Walking to school (blisters or sore feet)
-Always feeling sweaty
- Missing out on things at home
-The terrible exchange rate of dollars/Euros. Ugh.
-Not being able to find places to buy decent school supplies, a water bottle, stationery, etc. f
I could go on and on, but there are a few for you! :)
